◈ Benefits
What you gain from
working with an advisor
who has no agenda.
Cloud advisory work is most useful when the advisor has no interest in which provider you choose, no target to upsell to, and no implementation team waiting for work to flow their way.
← Back to Home◈ Overview
Six things that distinguish this practice.
No vendor arrangements
Mentari Consult receives no commercial consideration from AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or any other provider. Recommendations are derived from your criteria alone.
Every engagement ends in writing
The output of every engagement is a document your team can read, challenge, share and reference. Advisory that exists only in a presentation deck is advisory that fades.
Malaysian regulatory grounding
PDPA obligations, sector-specific guidance from BNM and the SC, and data residency requirements under Malaysian law are addressed by default, not as an afterthought.
Senior involvement throughout
You meet the same people in the discovery sessions as you do in the output review. No junior staff attend on behalf of someone more senior.
Transparent, fixed fees in RM
Every service is listed with a fixed fee in Malaysian ringgit. There are no currency-exposure issues, no variable day-rate structures, and no retainers that expand quietly.
Cross-functional facilitation
Cloud decisions require agreement across IT, finance, security and business ownership. Our facilitation structures are designed to reach shared understanding, not just technical consensus.
◈ In Depth
Expertise grounded in practice
The principals at Mentari Consult have collectively led infrastructure transitions across financial services, manufacturing, education and the public sector in Malaysia over fourteen years. This breadth matters because cloud migrations surface different concerns in different industries — data sovereignty considerations for financial institutions differ substantially from those facing a manufacturer or a university.
We do not arrive with a generic methodology adapted at the edges. The engagement structure is adapted from first principles to each client's estate, regulatory position, and team capabilities.
Areas of established expertise
- Legacy on-premise workload characterisation and migration sequencing
- PDPA and sector-specific data handling compliance for cloud environments
- Multi-provider architecture comparison across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud
- Talent availability and operational capability assessments in Peninsular Malaysia
- Cross-functional migration planning with finance, security and platform teams
What we use and why
- Architecture documentation in vendor-readable formats, not proprietary tools
- Dependency mapping with tooling your platform team can continue using after the engagement
- Cost modelling in Malaysian ringgit using current provider pricing
- Written deliverables in formats accessible to non-technical stakeholders
A considered approach to tooling
The tools we use in an engagement are chosen to produce outputs that are useful after we leave, not to demonstrate technical sophistication during the engagement. Architecture options are documented in formats your team can work with. Dependency maps are built in tools your platform engineers can open.
Cost projections are built in ringgit using published pricing and realistic assumptions about utilisation — not optimistic scenarios that look attractive in a proposal but prove difficult to achieve in practice.
Value that is visible before you commit
Each service has a published fee in Malaysian ringgit on this website. The Cloud Readiness Conversation is RM 870. The Multi-Cloud Architecture Advisory is RM 2,480. The Migration Path Workshop is RM 1,180. These figures are the fees; there are no conditions that change them.
Organisations that have worked with large advisory firms often find that the quoted fee covers only a portion of what was actually needed. Mentari Consult's fixed-scope model exists to prevent that experience.
What you receive for the fee
- Named deliverables with no scope expansion clauses
- Senior advisor involvement from first meeting to final output
- Written advisory that names risks plainly rather than softening them for readability
- Follow-up call included (Migration Path Workshop)
- No ongoing retainer assumed or implied

◈ What Sets Us Apart
The less common things we offer.
A readiness assessment you can share with your board
The Cloud Readiness Conversation produces a written assessment structured for a non-technical audience — clear enough for a board committee, detailed enough for a platform team. Most readiness exercises produce internal slide decks that never leave the IT department.
Architecture options, not a single recommendation dressed as analysis
The Multi-Cloud Architecture Advisory produces three distinct architecture options, each developed in detail, before we offer a recommendation. This means the client can examine the reasoning, disagree with it, and understand what they are choosing between.
A migration calendar the client owns and can adjust
The Migration Path Workshop concludes with a sequenced calendar your team may adjust as conditions change. It is not a project plan that requires the advisor to be present to update — it is a document your people can work from independently.
A mutual NDA before any discovery begins
Many advisory engagements begin with discovery before any confidentiality terms are in place. At Mentari Consult, the mutual non-disclosure agreement is signed before the first session that involves substantive information about your estate.
